On Thursday and Friday a had the chance to go to the ART Innsbruck a fair for contemporary art (thanks to my sister Tamara for the tickets). At Thursday evening the opening soirée was held, but that was really horrible and had imho nothing to do with a soirée. Most people there - and there were I would guess 200 - just wanted to be seen and were not in the smallest part interested into the art that was shown there. So we spent not much time there, just tried to see the most important works.
On Friday Anna, a friend of mine, and I once again visited the fair. There we had the possibility to enjoy the works there because it was much more quiet than the evening before.
There were some really nice pictures, but also such things like Nitsch or Warhol. I dislike both of them because I have always the feeling that they just want to make money, no matter with what kind of trash…
Beside this we also could “enjoy” the special photo exhibition. And that was really a fake. Four photographers under them a Japanese were exhibited. Beside naked prostitutes you could see dead flowers, and reading the text about this Nobuyoshi Araki that he photographed his dead wife in the coffin, makes this really macabre. The other photographers did not even provoke. They were a gag I guess.
Well after all I have seen I could tell that I have seen better works of students during my schooltime. And I have only to say the same as Edith Schlocker from the Tiroler Tageszeitung:
“Der Großteil von dem, was hier als Kunst verkauft wird, ist nicht die Farbe wert, mit der sie gemalt wurde.”
