The last week was really busy. There were a lot of things to do at work. The rebuilding of the LarKC project website was difficult. Hopefully the consortium don’t want to have something else. But I have found a great thing while searching a Flickr-thingy-like image map. Frank Manno gave me a solution that is only based on CSS and XHTML and additionally it looks really great. My sis’ Marina had found a great new virtual reality/digital self thing. It’s called mEgo and allows you to create an avatar of you. You can select your appearance and can give the visitor information about your habits, likes and dislikes. There is also the possibility to include your blog and image feeds from Flickr, Photobucket and Twitter. Visitors can additionally leave messages to you. I think it’s a great thing.
Nevertheless, I prefer to be sceptic about such sites that collect user and usage information e.g. studiVZ. So I usually just give information that cannot harm if given to another party. In the mEgo policy is stated that they share this collected data with third parties that can place e.g. advertisements on mEgo.com, but that data does not include your personal information like email, birthday or name.
To finish todays post I just want to point out that a poem that I have written some years ago can now be found in the portfolio section. It’s about the awakening of the Elves and it also tells in a short manner the fate of the two trees and the Noldor.
