The weird sisters, hand in hand,
Posters of the sea and land,
Thus do go about, about:
Thrice to thine and thrice to mine
And thrice again, to make up nine.
Peace! the charm’s wound up.

Christmas in London

As autumn is slowly coming to an end – and with slow I mean very slow as here in Innsbruck it has still between 10°C and 14°C, and snow can only be seen on the mountain tops – the pre-Christmas time is soon approaching. On Saturday the Christkindlmarkt already opened its doors and it was overrun by Italians and locals equally. Maybe I will get me a honey mead this evening, but to ask you a question: Does it feel at all like winter or Christmas right now?

I would say NO. Nevertheless Christmas time usually means stress, stress and more stress, but I am very lucky and will be on vacation nearly the whole December and will travel to London for a couple of days – so maybe it will be less stress this year. Additionally, I have already some presents and I am trying to get the rest in London or online. ;) Of course, you will see here the pictures of England as soon as we are back.

For the moment the thought of London will keep me from screaming. It makes me so angry when I read some of the comments in the board of the ÖTG concerning the hut-weekend that will take place on 27.-29. November in Maurach/Achensee. I really have tried to find a consensus – that the ÖTG will be able to get to know the members of the Tiroler Tolkien Stammtisch, and that everyone from us who wants to attend can do that. But I fail…

To state this clearly:

We have NEVER asked to organize the weekend in Tyrol, and NOONE of us has ever confirmed her attendance!

To accuse us to be the reason that the ÖTG is now making a deficit – and the reason for that is clearly the fact that a lot of people from Vienna and other parts of Austria are not attending – is quite insolent, especially when I think about the fact that I am the ONLY one of our regulars table that is an official member of the ÖTG.

Edit: Maybe I took everything too personal. Sorry for that. I know that it is no nice situation for all at the moment and I know that the written word is easier to misunderstand than the spoken, … but I feel at the moment a bit between two chairs, nevertheless. I have really tried to find a solution that is perfect for everyone. Maybe it was never possible to find a perfect solution.

Don’t be mad just because of the guys of the ÖTG! Maybe they should think about how they can be more attractive for people, or what they DO wrong when a lot of people aren’t attending their own events etc…
I mean I like JRR Tolkien’s works and all around it but I see simply no reason why I should be a member of the ÖTG (sorry, but this is my opinion). Maybe because I’m not a so-called diehard ;D
