In place of a Dark Lord you would have a Queen! Not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the sea! Stronger than the foundations of the Earth! All shall love me and despair! — Galadriel, The Lord of the Rings

A very, merry Christmas

I wish everyone a very, merry christmas! Enjoy all your gifts and the time with your families. I hope you can enjoy a White Christmas – here in Tyrol it was raining and all the snow is now gone. :( Not the best conditions for skiing and sledding, but winter will surely come again. Please enjoy the following wallpaper. It’s a creation for the FF@OBL Adventkalender 2009 and I wanna share it with you as well.

Back from London

On Sunday Alex and I came back from London. To be honest, I am really glad to be home again. From all the cities I have visited in the last years I was never more disappointed. Don’t ask me why but London couldn’t show me that it is something special. I didn’t have the feeling to be in Great Britain, and I have never seen a city where you find houses and places that look like slums between skyscrapers – that was so weird. It was a strange trip in all aspects. Also the Indian food wasn’t what I was expecting – I have tried the Murgh Makhani in every restaurant we were and it tasted everywhere absolutely different and not what it should.
We have visited the British Museum, the Design Museum, the Tower Bridge, Harrods and some other places, and from these the British Museum was the most impressive. I always loved ancient cultures and it was so amazing to see huge statues and relicts that endured thousands of years. I wonder if people in the future will have a museum of our cultures, and what they will think about us. They may think that we were decadent – at least this is what I was thinking about us while seeing the non-sense stuff in Harrods that costs more than a single-family-house. It’s kind of perverse how our society had evolved, and I feel more repelled than ever from the way things are going nowadays.

Well, I don’t want to say that it was a waste of time to make this short trip to London – but it was not at all what I was expecting and I surely will not visit it soon again, despite what all people told me about it. Nevertheless it was interesting to see this place and to made my own opinion. I guess I still prefer Scandinavia over Great Britain – and not only because the people there are 24/7 surveyed by cameras.
